Lisa Friel is an American lawyer, prosecutor, and special counsel for investigations for the NFL. She is based in New York City and has served as a vice president for T & M Protection Resources. She was also the Chief of the Sex Crimes Unit at Manhattan DA’s Office.

A proud graduate of Dartmouth College, Lisa holds a prestigious degree in History. After that, she earned her Juris Doctor in Law from the University of Virginia School of Law. She was involved in various activities at Dartmouth College where she played Varsity Basketball and JV Tennis.
Lisa started her career working for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in 1983. While at the office, she became a specialist in sex crimes and covered her first case in 1986. She joined the Manhattan DA’s Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit as a deputy in 1991, and after Linda Fairstein retired in 2002, she became the unit’s chief.
She was the chief of the sex crimes unit for nearly ten years before stepping down in 2011. Friel testified in the case against former IMF director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, despite not being a member of the investigation team.
She joined T & M Protection Resources in October 2011 and served as the vice president of the organization up until March 2015. In addition, she has also been featured in “Sex Crimes Unit”, an HBO documentary aired in 2011. Thereafter in April 2015, she became the Vice President and Special Counsel for Investigations for the National Football League.
She had various duties in this role including investigating alleged violations of the NFL’s personal code of conduct. This included, “sexual assault, domestic violence, extortion, and disorderly conduct”.
