Cheryl studied at the University of Northampton, where she acquired her Bachelor of Arts degree in acting, graduating with honors in 2010. Thereafter, she went straight into the world of acting and has never looked back since. Burniston’s first major role came in 2014, when she appeared in the movie, “Salvation,” in which she portrayed Jackie. Thereafter, she appeared in an episode of “New Tricks” as a police officer. Her first motion capture gig came in 2017 when she worked for Supermassive Games Ltd. on The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan. She played various pick-up roles in the video game, which earned her recognition within the realm of video game motion capture. Thereafter, she was hired by Gearbox Software for motion capture on the famous video game Borderlands 3 as Amara, Moze, and Psychos. In 2019, she landed one of her most lucrative motion capture roles under Universal Pictures as the Bride of Frankestine in Holoride (VR).

In addition, Burniston has also worked for Rovio Entertainment Corporation on Angry Birds (AR) as Green Pig. Also, in 2020, she returned to Supermassive Games, where she did motion capture on Little Hope for characters, Taylor, Tanya, Tabatha, and Drowned Demon. Thereafter, in 2021, she was hired by Axis Studios and did motion capture for them in two videogames up until 2022.

Her most recent role came in 2023 and she is currently doing motion capture for Square Enix on one of their latest franchise games, Final Fantasy XVI. She did motion capture for characters, Young Joshua, Jote, Mid, Olivier, and various other characters.
