Career Beginnings
A 12th-grade dropout, no one ever thought Hurricane would make it as big as he has, at least those not in his inner circle. Revealing his reason for dropping out was to make money and that school hindered his ambition. The school he attended? Rickards High School in Tallahassee. One would imagine, “He could’ve just finished school; he was so close,” but when you’re as talented as him, things might end up working out after all, at least in my opinion.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Hurricane revealed that he was born in Tallahassee and was raised in Havana, Florida, Gaston County, to be precise. He moved to Havana with his father when he was in 6th grade and shifted back and forth between Havana and D Land, from D Land to Texas, and finally from Texas back to Havana. Despite moving that much, he finally settled in Miami at the age of 17 after getting kicked out of his parents’ house for smoking.
So when did he start making music? Reminiscing on his school days, Hurricane revealed that around 9th and 10th grade, he started making music, not professionally but just writing lyrics, spitting bars here and there, and posting on social media. His reason? Because he felt it was possible to do music and make it.
